The last picture.
________________________________________________________________
There's always a story behind an obituary.
I can't remember exactly when this started, but i look at the obit section in the papers everyday.
I remember when i was younger, i saw my mom peering at that section one day and i asked her why. She said sometimes there are familiar faces or names, especially of distant relatives or her friends' parents.
It didn't make much sense to me then, but who knew, i'll be doing the same thing just a few yrs from that day.
When i started work, i started examining the section even more closely. But no matter how hard i look, there's always a mystery i can't unveil.
Right in the postcard size box (that's if your family or friends are rich enough to make it that big), there's always a picture staring back at your. Below, a string of names follow.
Depending on the age of the photo, the expression's usually different. The younger ones tend to be captured in laughter, looking like he's having the time of his life. The older ones tend to be untelling, just a mere face staring back at the camera.
Do they ever know that that particular picture would one day stand before their casket? or sit at the top of an obit, for the world to see? If they had knew, would they still have chosen that expression?
The age of the deceased also very often leaves me wondering. In the case of a young person - did he meet with an accident? had terminal cancer? died in his sleep?
Then, there's the names of the family members that follow. Did he leave behind a wife, children, or even parents?
So many questions left unanswered.
At the end of the day, at the end of the road, what's left?
Besides that little space in the obit section of the local paper, i do hope i would leave greater memories in the hearts of the persons reading it.

Travis - Flowers in the Window
There's no reason to feel bad
But there are many reasons to feel glad, sad, mad
Its just a bunch of feelings that we have to hold
But i am here to help you with the load.
Wow look at you now
Flowers in the window
It's such a lovely day
And i am glad that you feel the same
Cause to stand up i'm in the crowd
You're one in a million
And i love you so, so lets watch the flowers grow.
